Smt. J. Chinchu Rani, Minister for Animal Husbandry & Dairy Development represents Chadayamangalam constituency of Kollam district in the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly. Other portfolios include Milk Co-operatives, Zoos, Kerala Veterinary & Animal Sciences University.

She was the first woman minister representing the Communist Party of India (CPI) since 1964. She was born to N. Sreedharan and Jagadamma at Mundakkal on 06 July 1962 . Since childhood, she was active in politics and earned various positions to serve the society like Member, Eravipuram Gramapanchayath (1985-1990), Vice- President, District Panchayath (1990-1995), Tax & Appeal, Standing Committee, Kollam Corporation (1995-2000), Health & Education Standing Committee, District Panchayath, Kollam (2000-2005), Chairperson, Kerala State Poultry Development Corporation Ltd (2016-2021). Presently she acts as National Council Member & State Executive Committee Member of Communist Party of India (CPI) and State President, Kerala MahilaSangham (NFIW) (since 2018), President the Quilon Co-operative Group Hospital Society etc.

She is married to Shri.D. Sukeshan and has two children Nandu Sukeshan and Nandana Rani.
